Review: Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson (@thebloggess)

Pardon my ignorance, but I have only recently been enlightened on the existence of this delightful author and blogger through Twitter. She is hilarious. Satire and humor at its best. I urge everyone to read her.

Review: THE HANDMAID’S TALE by Margaret Atwood

Reading this reminded me strongly of the brilliant 1984, except this is told from a woman’s point of view, in a world that is set in the near future. Disturbing at times, this is thought-provoking and an excellent read.

CAT’S CRADLE by Kurt Vonnegut

I love satire. Vonnegut is possibly the best author who combines satirical commentary on humanity with his unique blend of humor and a fantastically absurd fantasy world. Some moments were laugh out loud in a terrifying sense, and makes you wonder how you’ve ever lived as a human being so naively before. A great read.

Satirists keep humanity sane. They embody the freedom of speech and bravery. It is not easy daring to speak up against injustice. The wits involved are formidable. The first satirist I came across was Jonathan Swift. I still believe his writings to be one of the best. Here is a collection of his most important satires.
